Garlic (botanical name Allium sativum) is a member of the onion family Alliaceae, which also includes onion,leek,shallot and chive. Garlic is one of the strongest flavored members of this genus family. Garlic has been used as both food and medicine for thousands of years. Fresh garlic contains many nutrients, including phosphorus, potassium, calcium, protein and vitamins B and C. Try to use it on a daily basis to achieve the greatest health benefits.

Garlic is grown globally, but China is by far the largest producer of garlic, with approximately 10.5 million tonnes annually, accounting for over 77% of world output. Jinxiang,Jining,Shandong is the largest garlic planting and storing area in the world. Jinxiang county is located in a temperate zone with gentle breezes and warm sunshine. It has four distinct seasons,fertile soil, and right amount of rain,and these factors are ideal for garlic growth. Jinxiang garlic is famous all over the world for its characteristics such as big size, white colour,compact clove, durable storage, moderate hot taste. Jinxiang Garlic has been recognized by European Union as an Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) in December,2009. The exporting quantity each year from Jinxiang covers more than 70% of Chinese exported quantity.Jinxiang produces more than 60 million tons of garlic annually and its exporting quantity is more than 70% of China.

Most of us use garlic, but don't know enough about garlic storage.Garlic should be stored at about-3 to 0 degrees celsius. However, most home refrigerators are too warm for ideal long-term storage of garlic. The storage life can be 6 to 12 months in good conditions. Proper garlic storage will also help retain nutrients in the bulb.

Please also note that there are two varieties of garlic: one is Normal White Garlic (with some purple stripes on the skin of the bulbs) and another variety called Pure White Garlic (or snow white garlic) which does not have any purple stripes on the skin. There is price difference between the two varieties of garlic, usually the price of pure white garlic is higher than normal white garlic, please tell us which kind of garlic you want.
